Why pluck anything less? This is
the latest slogan emblazoned upon a highway billboard for a popular
grocery store chain. It features a bunch This simplistic, yet spiritually poignant ad gave rise to a question that all believers of Christ Jesus should ask. When you read in the word the many references to grapes ie The Vine, Fruit of the Vine, True Wine, etc. it begs the question why, indeed, pluck any thing less. If He is the Vine and we are the branches; thus, we are of Him, then only the best fruit should be found within us. He is, after all the “True Vine”. Waiting upon the Lord for His very best would have been an equally suitable catch phrase over that succulent bunch of grapes. Though waiting can be tough at times, premature moves are settling for “good enough’. Decisions made without seeking Him first qualify as picking something less. These choices, made outside of His will for our lives, will result in sub-par fruit. I’m waiting for the freshest, juiciest fruit He has for me, no matter how long it must ripen on the Vine. Will you
pluck less? |
